calavera / temple of doom
divin’ the skull

Cenote Calavera, which means skull in Spanish, takes its name from 3 holes on the roof which gives the impression of being inside a skull

This place has an amazing halocline with a little variation of temperature between the fresh and salt water. Sediment is very light so this dive requires a good control of the neutral buoyancy. Very nice green light effects from the main opening. There are also many hidden fossils to discover. For cave diving, there are wonderful passages both on the siphon and spring sides. There is also a famous “Fang”, combination of a huge stalactite and stalagmite.
